About
Once a month we host an Exchange at Oblong, Woodhouse Community Center. People bring along up to 20 items to swap, we accept women's and men's clothes and accessories (not jewellery). As long as they are clean and in good condition; no tear, holes, stains, etc. You can expect to find everything from vintage, designer, high street and basics to handmade delights.
As part of our quality control and recycling policy, anything that we are unable to accept into the Exchange does not stop there.
Cottons and jeans are sent to Seagulls, a local paint recycling social enterprise.
Bras are sent to Oxfam's Big Bra Hunt.
Everything else is sent to Wheatfields Hospice in Headingley and other charities.
Nothing goes to landfill.
We now have over 550 members since upgrading to our digital database 18-months ago, and regularly get over 100 people attend each Exchange. As a result in February we moved from our beloved home of many years at the Remade In Leeds studio, to our new amazing space at Oblong.
This also means that we are now able to offer an indie market with a range of stalls at each Exchange. From jewellery and clothes, to crafts and materials. We also have Iris Holistic Massage at every Exchange offering £5 taster massages, it's worth booking in advance as this is proving to be a very popular treat! As well as this there are refreshments: tea, coffee and cake, provided by the WHIM cafe and Indian snacks for a savory bite.
The Exchange happens on the 4th Saturday of each month (except July, August and December),
from 12am - 4pm and costs £3.
